Hail bruising on aging asphalt shingles
Why it happens here
Oakbrook's 1970s to 1990s homes often have original or second-layer asphalt shingles that are already brittle. Hail bruising fractures the mat and knocks granules loose, but the shingle surface may still look intact from the ground. The damage is invisible until it leaks.
Our approach
We inspect with moisture meters and close-up cameras, and we check gutters for granule loss. If we find bruising, we document it with photos and measurements for your claim. We replace damaged shingles with matching materials and check the underlayment and flashing while we are there.
